Ginger's Dance Party!

Hi, I’m Ginger Gowing Fowlkes and I’m a realtor who is very involved in Downtown West Palm Beach. I love living, working and dancing Downtown! I feel if we all did one thing we enjoy doing for our community it would be a better place to live. Clint and I met at a Ballroom and love to dance! I wanted a fun place to dance early evenings with a DJ with current dance songs, dance mix rotation of hustle, salsa, disco and line dances. The Mayor of WPB loved the idea! We started over 3 years ago with 12 people and now have hundreds of people of all ages dancing to Ginger's Dance Party the first Saturday of every month on the waterfront across from Pizza Girls and World of Beer. If you ever need more info please email me at GingerSellsDowntown@gmail.com. Check out the city website http://wpb.org/waterfront/gingers-dance-party/

See you on the Waterfront! cha, cha, cha...... Ginger

Something fabulous is coming to Clematis St. and it’ll be here before summer.

The vision for Fuku is simple and well thought through: think Modern Asian dining, Japanese / Chinese cuisine, a full bar with large mirrored walls (with two inset TVs) which reflects the water feature on the back wall, open kitchen, elevated second bar, DJ booth and sound system designed specifically to provide both a comfortable dining experience as well as transform Fuku into a lounge / hip night spot.

Speaking of cool Asian spaces on Clematis, Palm Sugar on the corner of Clematis and Dixie is coming along quickly and looking at a launch date next month. Palm Sugar isn’t going to be quite like anything we’ve seen so far. Designed by the same team that brought us the very popular Kabuki restaurant just down the street, Palm Sugar will focus on “Asian Comfort Food”, but will have something for everyone: a coffee bar, comfort food menu, and a full bar for the evenings. If you’re passing by, stick your head in the door! The team is really friendly and always happy to keep us up-to-date with how things are coming along.

As you can probably tell, I’m really excited about these new developments. Clematis St. needs destination restaurants! - Establishments that are designed go beyond serving the local crowd, but reach outside its own community and bring people from surrounding cities. The more people who are drawn into downtown West Palm Beach the better.

Well, that’s all from me! Hope to see you on Clematis street this weekend!

    Ginger Says… LUIGI’S

Have you ever wanted to have a private party but didn’t want to deal with having it in your own place with all the hard work involved? Well I have found the best place to have a Private Party here in downtown West Palm Beach! LUIGI’S Italian Restaurant is located at 118 Clematis Street, right here in the center of it all at the Waterfront! LUIGI’S has a very cool private party room upstairs with lots of windows looking down at the Waterfront. It includes a full bar with plenty of places to sit and several large tables for when you want more of a family style. LUIGI’S manager, Mario, says to just call him at 561-833-4456 and they will work with you on any party you want. It gets better! The upstairs room has an incredible wood floor.  For those like me that love to dance that wood floor is important. Mario will remove the tables, add a few high tops and serve buffet style if you want to have a larger group of people. Wait till you see all the different options you can pick from and do! You get your choice of the salad, the pasta, the chicken dish and the veal dish for your guests with dessert and sides included! Just ask for the private party room menu! There is just so much to choose from! You get all this for only $20.00 per person plus gratuity and tax. They even have an option to add open bar or cash bar.

If you have been to LUIGI’S you already know how yummy their dishes are.  I always have their clams oreganata because it is just out of this world with garlic breadcrumbs, parsley and yummy parmesan.  When you are really hungry try Nonna’s Sunday gravy that is loaded with their homemade, oh my gosh meatballs and sausage. LUIGI’S also will deliver! To see their menu go online to www.luigiswpb.com

So next time you are thinking of having a party let LUIGI’S do all the work for you to let you enjoy your party!

    Until next time,

    Ginger Says………. MOVE!

MOVE! That’s correct!  I know you are thinking what? Ginger is always talking about the fabulous places to eat and all the great deals we are so lucky to have here in Downtown West Palm Beach? Well now I want to tell you about a place I have found to work off all that wonderful food and happy hour drinks!   MOVE! Another perfect new addition to our Downtown West Palm Beach! MOVE is a Boutique Fitness studio owned by one of our Downtown residents Amy Walker. Amy also is one of the instructors. MOVE is located on the ground floor of The Whitney Building at 410 Evernia Street unit #109 561-290-0511 www.movefitnessstudio.com MOVE is very easy to find. Just steps away from our Downtown wine bar the Blind Monk. See? I knew you knew where MOVE is located.

There are a bunch of things I really love about this very cool fitness studio MOVE.  How much one on one attention you get from the instructor in a small group class! It feels like I am in a private session since the classes are always under 10 people. MOVE specializes in Personal sessions, Duo, Small Group, and Class Instruction. Another thing that makes MOVE very attractive to me is that there are no membership fees or contracts to sign. You simple pay for what you want to do that month! All classes are scheduled & paid through their website. Currently, MOVE offers Indoor Cycling, Strength, Functional, Step, Yoga, Pilates Mat, Athletic and Fusion programming.

Since I am a newbie to MOVE and new to some of these classes I thought it would be fun to sign up for a different class each week. How fun for me to be able to take my first Spin Class to see if it was for me or not. It is! Amy really keeps the class FUN & motivated and teaches us how to get better results. I am now a regular spinner! Thank you Amy!  I just tried Fusion which is a little bit of spinning, stepping and weights and now that is a class I can’t live without!

Another thing I really like about MOVE is that I don’t have to pack anything to workout.  MOVE provides all the yoga mats, towels and bottles of water with each session. All you have to do is show up and MOVE!

    Until next time!

Want to know about the newest HOT SPOT in our Downtown West Palm Beach? We now have a very cool wine bar, The Blind Monk!

I keep telling you how living in Downtown West Palm Beach just keeps getting better and better, well it does!! This charming, yet quaint place on the ground floor of one of the new high rises is called the Blind Monk and it is located at the Whitney Condominium on 410 Evernia Street, between Dixie & Quadrille in Downtown West Palm Beach. And for those who need to drive, there is plenty of parking along the street. How cool it is for us local folks to just walk to another condo for a glass of wine and order a cheese board? What makes this place even better is that it is owned by Ben Lubin, a Marine Corps veteran and our very own Mayor’s son.

Wait till you see this place. Honest, it is so cool! There is this HUGE frame on the wall with black and white films being played, bistro tables, a sofa and a bar. There are plenty of seats outside too for those like me that enjoy the evening with our dogs or just loving our downtown WPB weather.

Ben says that he has 90 wines to be poured by the glass and there are more than 300 full bottles available on a list from around the world. Prices start at $6 a glass or $24 per bottle. I have been there several times and can recommend my ‘FAV’ is the J Lohr Chardonnay. It’s a great glass of wine! Okay… I order 2 each time I go, but I love this wine that they have!! Try a glass and if you love it too then meet me there one night and we will have Ben open us our own bottle! The Blind Monk also has 13 microbrews, a coffee bar with espresso and cappuccino, and sparkling juices.

Now back to those Yummy cheese boards that are going to cost me more treadmill time. There will be weekly choices of cold cuts, cold seafood, fresh fruits, crackers and dark chocolates. It is really fun because you pick
and choose what you want. Make note of the cheeses you love and order them the next time like we do!

The Blind Monk is open daily from 5 pm. to 1 am and their phone number is (561) 833-3605. Check out their website at www.TheBlindMonk.com. The Blind Monk is the perfect place to go after a night of Ginger’s Dance
Party or anything else you may be doing. See you there!

    Until next time!

    Ginger……. Shaken not stirred
